If you’ve been smoking cannabis for a while, you might be running into an age-old problem. Though the industry and its variety of products is ever changing, you may still be lost on just how to smoke your bud. There’s always the conventional choices but, what about when you want something a little different from the norm?
The cannabis community is known for being a resourceful bunch. We all know that if there’s a will, there’s a way. Of course, growing up in an industry that was behind closed doors causes you to be more on the crafty side. After all some creative minds like Seth Rogen and the great French-writer Alexandre Dumas were part of the stoner community.
Though The Three Musketeers author may not have been making fruit pipes, Seth Rogen has shared many stories and proof of his “stoner engineering”. A simple Google search will bring you some of the canna-community’s most ridiculous inventions in an effort to smoke and stay discreet. While the activities after consumption are another story, let us walk you through some basic, and sometimes sweet, ways you introduce some creativity into smoking.
Even if you don’t know what it is, you’ve probably heard of a gravity bong before. Whether it be from your cannabis connoisseur friends or wide-eyed budtender, it’s known as one of the quickest and heaviest ways to smoke cannabis. The concept behind it is actually two different different apperatices in one. A bucket bong and a water bong. The two are used simultaneously to with air pressure and water to draw smoke from a small bowl at the top. The hits you get from a homemade item like this all depends on how it’s made. This leaves things open for a lot of customization.
There are tons of designs and videos online to make your own but, typically they are made with gallon jugs or a small cooler.
Despite them not being as widely known as other paraphernalia, they are still known to many long-time users as the perfect piece to make at home. It gives an intense experience for those looking for something outside a regular bong. The added water does help smooth out your hits but, don’t take this venture too lightly.
If you are looking for some less intense but more aesthetically pleasing bong ideas, try ice. Not just ice in your bong but a bong made of ice. You can find a variety of molds online and in your local glass shop. If you do have the skill and tools, however, go ahead and starting cutting away at your own. Just make sure you do that before you medicate. For everyone else, the most popular mold is from Eyce Molds. These give the ultimate definition of a smooth hit but are on a short time-frame considering it’s frozen. What better way to hotbox your bedroom then with an ice cold bong? Cause what’s cooler than cool, ice cold!
Another simple homemade option are pipes. Reminiscent of the 90s, you can always make this with a pen or marker but, who wants that taste in their mouth. These can be created with a variety of household products and even food but, the easiest however is the faithful Paper Towel Steamroller. This can be made with any empty paper towel roll or toilet paper roll. If you’ve got an extra bowl, simply stick it in one side of the roll. If not, use foil to protect it the roll from burning in your hands. These rolls can be pretty wide so prepared for a hard hit from either of these options. As simple as this how-to is, it has helped a many a stoner on a bad day.
For even more of a throwback, you could try the old-faithful water bottle bong. This one can be totally customized and changed to how the user would like to smoke from the bottle. Two of the most common options are similar to the paper towel roll. Stick your bowl into the plastic bottle towards the bottom or poke a hole big enough for a small amount of dry flower to fit. If you really wanna take you and your friends back or if you are truly out of options, try one of these two.
What if I’m not that creative?
If you don’t want to risk destroying the house or if you just don’t want to put that much work into the activity. There’s tons of sites and local shops where you can buy a cool piece or a mold to make something cool without extra work. Just don’t forget that Arizona Stash Can on the way out.
These are only a couple of the creative ways to smoke at home or with friends. If you’re looking for a bit more inspiration, check some out here and here as well. Listening to your favorite stoner’s adventures or watching some cannabis themed movies are great for ideas too. Either way, always remember to do your due diligence and medicated safely, my friends.
